Women’s Ministry at The Salvation Army Community Church Woodstock has a variety of ministries and activities.

Home League...

Home League

Home League meets the first and third Tuesday of the month 1:30 – 3:00 PM.

Our meetings are planned around the fourfold theme of Fellowship; Education; Worship; Service.

We have a great time together in fellowship, devotions and other outings and activities.
Occasionally we have a special guest but often we use our own program. We share a cup of tea and light refreshments as we share in conversation together.

L.I.F.T - Ladies in Fellowship Together...

L.I.F.T.

Join with us for coffee, fellowship and Bible Study every Thursday at 9:30 AM.

Are you looking for some good, warm Christian fellowship? Then come and join us on Thursday mornings between 9:30 AM – 11:15 AM. Not only will you get to spend time with the ladies but you will also get to look into God’s Word to see what He has to say to us today.

We are presently studying 1 & 2 Thessalonians. In this letter Paul affirms his love for the believers and teaches and admonishes them to be Christ like. He gives some teachings on the second coming of Christ, the final judgement and God’s Kingdom. We are exploring what it means to be Christ like and our preparedness for Christ’s return.

If you’re looking for female Christian fellowship and instruction come along and join our study!

Ladies Night Out...

This event takes place once a quarter on a Friday night. It is an evening of fun, fellowship, friendship and entertainment. We have done things such as a Hawaiian Luau, Movie Night, and Craft night. Occasionally we have a guest to inspire and challenge us in our Christian Journey.

FIT for HIM...

This is an exercise class that meets every Thursday night from 6:45 – 7:45 PM. This class is led by a qualified fitness instructor. If you are looking to get into shape by listening to contemporary Christian music then this is the place for you. All ladies welcome. Cost: $2.00

YADA YADA Prayer Group...

This group meets the second Sunday of each month 6 – 8 PM. This is a new ministry targeted at young mothers and working women (25-50 years of age). We are currently reading the first book in a series of seven entitled  “Yada Yada Prayer Group” by Neta Jackson. These books will be a springboard for discussion about how God is working in our lives. It is an opportunity for ladies to support, encourage and pray for one another in their daily lives.

Annual Day Retreat...

In June we have a ladies Day Retreat on a Saturday. We have a special guest to teach, encourage and challenge us from God’s Word as well as a musical guest. These days prove to be a great time of Christian fellowship and instruction.

Based on Proverbs 27:17 & 19, the men at Woodstock Community Church seek to sharpen and improve each other in the various roles they find themselves.  Through various activities, events and special speakers, we seek to explore the godly role of manhood in today’s society.  With a tentative name of “The Iron Man Club”, meetings take place the third Saturday of each month with an 8:30am breakfast in the Youth Hall at 769 Juliana Dr. All men are welcome to come and join us in fellowship.  For more details contact George Nicol at 519-537-3334.

“As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.  As water reflects a face, so a man’s heart reflects the man.”

Senior Band in Victoria Day Parade

Every Sunday morning as the band takes their place on the platform, we endeavour to set a feeling of devotion and of meditation, which in turn will blend into the theme of the meeting.  Also, prior to us coming into the sanctuary, both the band and the songsters join together in prayer asking for God’s guidance and praying that the Holy Spirit will be present and felt by all through the service.

Over the years our band has continued to witness of God’s love through the playing of our instruments.  Our men and women of the band are using the talents God has given them to glorify and praise Him, and it is our prayer that through this dedicated effort, those who hear us will be blessed.

During the year, the band is present in the community at various functions.  Two of these events include Woodstock’s annual May 24th parade and the Santa Clause parade in November.  This past November, the parade went on as usual, despite the blinding snowstorm that started during the afternoon.  The band took it’s place on the Army’s float and though snow covered even before leaving the fairgrounds they played to the delight of everyone who braved the elements to sit along the parade route.  The Army’s float was also awarded 3rd place in the parade.

55 Plus Group

The band also participates in visitations to the various nursing homes in the community.  At Christmas time we serenade at each of the kettle locations lending our support to our Family Services Dept. The Saturday morning before Christmas will find the band walking along the main street of town serenading the holiday shoppers as they do their last minute shopping.  On Christmas morning, the band and Corps members gather at 10am at the Woodstock General Hospital and spend 2 hours playing and singing for the patients in the various wards throughout the hospital.

The band is under the capable leadership of Bandmaster Jim Gordon and Deputy Bandmaster Karl Jolly.  It is their prayer that as a band they will continue to play His music so that those who hear, whether it is in a service or in a community activity, will know that they are playing and witnessing for our Lord and Saviour.

Songster Brigade

On Sunday morning, it is our privilege to bring music to uplift and encourage the congregation. This is only accomplished through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and the dedication of each member of our group and our leaders.

Every Sunday morning before our Worship service, the songsters meet with the band and pray God’s blessing on all that we endeavour to do in His name.  It is our prayer that the words that we sing will be a blessing and inspiration to those who hear them and that they in turn will be brought into a greater relationship with our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

The songsters along with the band also take part in special musical Cantatas presented during the Christmas and Easter season

The songsters also have the opportunity of going to St. Luke’s Retirement Home in Cambridge and participating in a time of music and singing for the residents.  The music is enjoyed by all that come and afterwards we have a chance to share in a time of fellowship and refreshments with them.

We also have the opportunity of joining with 3 other Corps in our area at least 3 times a year to present a joint Sunday afternoon musical program of praise.  These include the bands and songsters as well as various special solo items from the participating Corps of Woodstock, Brantford, Cambridge and Simcoe.  Each Corps takes a turn in hosting the event.  The next one will be held in Woodstock the last Sunday in March as part of our 125th Anniversary Celebrations.

Our songsters are under the leadership of Songster Leader, Jim Gordon who is assisted by Susan Allen with Lois Reimer as our accompanist.
Praise & Worship Team

Our praise and worship team has been together for 2 ½ years now.  We have been through many changes to get where we are today.

Our team consists of: Lindsay Wegman – Leader & keyboard, Captain Owen Budden – acoustic guitar, Ryan Noels – electric guitar, George Nicol – drums, Andrew Wegman, Vanessa Scotney-Page, Captain Sandra Budden and Joyce Townson – vocals.  We recently said goodbye to our pianist Adam Fyn and wish him every blessing as he continues his studies at Montclair State University in New Jersey and as a member of the New York Staff Band.

We practice weekly on Wednesday nights at 8:00pm.  It is our aim and passion to praise God through song and lead the congregation in doing so as well.

Contact Lindsay Wegman for more information.

Senior Timbrels

Timbrels is a group of people who play tambourines to music in a precision drill-team fashion.

Timbrel practice takes place every Tuesday evening at 7:00pm in the Sanctuary.
